Last September, Kevin Durant treated fans to a preview of upcoming Nike KD 8 colorways, one of which took heavy inspiration from his favorite Bible verse. If you’ve been holding out for this angelic make up, we’ve got a bit of bad news.

Sneaker News recently spoke with KD 8 designer Leo Chang, who says that the colorway, nicknamed “Servant,” was scrapped altogether due to it being “too religious.” While these wouldn’t be the first Nike sneakers to take inspiration from religion, it sounds like someone decided that the allusions on the graphic upper and biblical callouts on the insole and tongue were too explicit for the general public.

With that said, it appears that at least a few pairs ended up making it to production, as Chang is pictured wearing them below. If you’re salty about the cancelation, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on eBay to see if any samples pop up.

Elsewhere in KD 8 news, the annual “Aunt Pearl” colorway is now available from Nikestore for $200.
