A convicted murderer is behind bars again after police were able to identify him by the sneakers he was wearing when he robbed a liquor store in Englewood, NJ last weekend. According to the Englewood Daily VoiceCharles Blain robbed Wides Liquor store at gun point, making off with $200-300, but video footage was able to capture him and his “Mirror Blue” Nike Air Foamposite Ones.

Following the crime, detectives examined the security video footage and began the search, eventually locating Blain near a relative’s home. “He was wearing “those very distinctive Nike sneakers,” Captain Detective Timothy Torell told the Daily Voice. Blain was convicted for murder back in 1989, and currently had another warrant out for his arrest. While ditching evidence from a crime might seem like a no-brainer, this isn’t the first time that sneakers have helped police identify a suspect.
