Just a couple of months back there’s been a major amount of news about Nike designers leaving the company. But there’s a fresh new designer arriving at the scene. Colin Behr, a student about to be a Iowa State graduate who will soon begin his dream job as a designer for Nike Sportswear.
When he was young he was given a pair of infant Air Jordan’s. Behr grew up to be a Michael Jordan fan and was a basketball player. However, knee injuries had shortened his career on the court.Well Behr picked up his sketchbook and he found himself drawing sneakers. Once a friend told him about product design during his freshman year in college that’s when he knew he wanted to work in the footwear industry. Behr is graduating with a double major in industrial design and apparel design. He also studied shoe making at the London College of Fashion, designed three pairs of shoes sold by New Balance as an intern, helped design a Todd Snyder New York parka for Barneys and co-designed a football receiver glove manufactured by Shock Doctor for Cutter’s.
Now Behr will be standing in the entrance of the Nike campus and start his journey.
