Last week, Nike CEO Mark Parker told you how to get a job at Nike, and today we’re learning how to land a gig with the competition.
As part of Bloomberg‘s Cheat Sheet series, adidas Talent Acquisition Manager Andy Shearer (i.e., the guy in charge of hiring people) broke down the best ways to earn a role as the brand’s Senior Design Director. For starters, Shearer says that although adidas has its own shortlist of potential hires, you shouldn’t be intimidated about reaching out to the brand first.
If you make it beyond the first stages of the process, you’ll want to have a firm grasp on what adidas calls the three Cs: creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Shearer also says the brand wants someone who’s immersed in pop culture, noting the importance of adidas’ collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell, James Harden, and Messi.
The absolute worst things you can do during the interview? Fronting like you’re someone you’re not, coming in with little understanding of adidas’ history, and being reluctant to think outside of the box are all things that might get you turned down.
